Aloe vera
Aloe feels lovely and cooling on a mild sunburn, and that's about where the evidence lands: a review of the trials called its effects 'not sufficiently defined,' and a few studies even found it slowing healing. Notably, none of that research is about acne; aloe doesn't treat breakouts. It's a pleasant, mostly harmless soother, not a fix for anything. Enjoy it for what it actually is.
what the evidence says
A systematic review found aloe's clinical effectiveness for burns and wounds 'not sufficiently defined,' with some studies showing delayed healing; it is not an established acne treatment.
